Structure of the Foundation
The Foundation's highest decision-making body is the Stiftungsrat (Foundation Council), composed of representatives from the Federal Government and the sixteen Federal States. A Beirat (Advisory Committee) with fifteen members representing relevant academic disciplines acts as a consultative body.
The President carries out the decisions of the Stiftungsrat and is responsible for the Foundation's ongoing concerns. The Central Administration is directly under the charge of the President and carries through the Council's basic decisions. It is divided into three sections (Presidential Department, Organisation and Budget / Internal services and Personnel).
