Advisory Board

The Advisory Board has the task of advising the Board of Trustees, the President and, in future, the Executive Board on technical issues. It represents the external, independent expertise for the foundation's work.

The Advisory Board meets at least once a year, regularly in Berlin. The President attends its meetings. The Advisory Board formulates opinions and recommendations on museum, library and archive-related issues as well as scientific matters. These are not binding.

Composition

As part of the structural reform of the SPK, the SPK Advisory Board will also be reorganised. The Advisory Board was reappointed on 1 March 2025 and is now made up of domestic and foreign experts. Its maximum of 15 members work on an honorary basis. They are appointed by the Board of Trustees. Their term of office is five years and they may be reappointed.

Expert Committees

In future, specialised commissions will be set up to deal with cross-institutional issues. They will advise the SPK institutions on key technical, cultural and scientific policy issues. The specialist commissions are intended to deal with topics that are equally important for all institutions.
