An architectural icon renewed: Neue Nationalgalerie visible again
News from 12/14/2020
The Neue Nationalgalerie, originally designed by Mies van der Rohe, is no longer under wraps – the building will be handed over on April 29 and will reopen in August 2021.

The fully refurbished upper hall of the Neue Nationalgalerie is back in the light, visible in all its crystalline purity. Hermann Parzinger, President of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz is delighted: “What a beautiful sight to see at the end of such a difficult year – a major milestone has been reached. The building has been fully refurbished according to plans by David Chipperfield Architects and we look forward to presenting it to the public next year. The handover ceremony is scheduled for April 29, 2021, followed by an open day for the public. And in August we will reopen the Neue Nationalgalerie with an exhibition of works by Alexander Calder."
