Welfenschatz: U.S. Supreme Court Rules in Favor of SPK

On February 3, 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) ruled unanimously in favor of SPK in the Guelph Treasure Restitution Lawsuit.
The U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) thus reversed the decisions of the lower courts. At the same time, it remanded the case to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the court of first instance. This court must now decide again - in compliance with the SCOTUS ruling.
SPK President Hermann Parzinger welcomes the U.S. Supreme Court's unanimous decision to follow the SPK's reasoning in the Guelph Treasure case, saying, "The SPK has long held that the case does not belong before a U.S. court."
Aside from the question of admissibility, SPK has long maintained that this lawsuit lacked merit, as the Guelph Treasure’s sale in 1935 was not a forced sale due to Nazi persecution. The SPK’s view is backed by in-depth, scholarly provenance research, and is fully concurrent with the Limbach Commission’s finding in 2014.
