The commission's deliberations on the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (SBB – Berlin State Library), the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (IAI – Ibero-American Institute) and the Geheimes Staatsarchiv (GStA – Secret State Archives) focused on the question of how the institutions' own power of responsibility can be strengthened and made more efficient, be it on a fully autonomous footing or within the SPK as a fundamentally reformed umbrella organization. The members of the reform commission reaffirmed the intention to support the institutions in their progress along this route. The director general of the SBB, Barbara Schneider-Kempf, the director of the IAI, Barbara Göbel, and the director of the GStA, Ulrike Höroldt, took part in the meeting.

Hermann Parzinger, President of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz remarks: “I am sure that the principle of networking is the right one for a new SPK – especially in the 21st century. The reform should result in added value for the visitors to our institutions and the users of our services. This means that we need more new ideas and inspiration in every part of the network. In my opinion, this could enable the SPK, as a repository of knowledge, to look forward to a bright future, with strong, independently operating institutions and as a network that benefits all concerned.”
